SPRING EDIT // TROPICAL, ROMANTIC, & NAUTICAL

The Nautical Prep

I’ve always had a soft spot for nautical and prep – as seen here and here. This Spring I’m loving whimsical prints in more unexpected shapes and silhouettes. And, no Spring wardrobe is complete without a fun pair of rain boots (I admittedly own way too many). This season, I was elated to find classic stripe option (as seen here), with added pops of color. The return of gingham as a dominant spring pattern and retro straw bags makes it easy to put some prep in your step.

Vibrant colors with touches of gold create the foundation for this Spring wanderer. Looser woven constructions and perforated fabrics keep things cool and casual. Love the idea of adding a vintage pieces into the mix as well. I have had recent success on both Etsy and Ebay, and will be checking back often this spring to hunt for market bags, oversized earrings and vintage boater hats. You can see one of my favorite tropical looks from last year here.

The Ruffled Romantic

A pastel palette creates a feminine feel for this romantic theme, but a hint of black in an accessory or short or pant keeps things from getting overly cutesy.  Touches of ruffles and scallops in solids or subdued prints add interest and charm. I have been a huge fan of ruffles this Spring – as seen here and here. To top off the look, add a statement earring or brooch that is a modern interpretation of a classic.
