NOTEPAD No. 21

THROWBACK //

These might just be the cutest pair of denim that I have ever owned! This picture was taken from this post, which was shot in the NYC’s West Village back in December of 2016.

Question: I work in a conservative environment and would love some suggestions for dresses that are appropriate but also fashionable.

Answer: I would start by choosing a skirt length and sleeve length that are appropriate, which will make it much easier to get away with a fashion detail or even a print. Right now I am really feeling for sleeve details and this dress and this dress are both fun and fashionable, yet still perfectly office appropriate. If you are able to get away with a subtle print or pattern at your office, I’m loving this striped dress, this feminine grid print dress, and this floral number. A more fashion forward silhouette that would still work well in the office would be this plaid tie front dress, and this jacquard weave would be a great choice too! A shirt dress in the workplace can be anything but boring, this red one and this one with its button detail would both be at the top of my list. And, last but not least, this tie-neck piece is feminine, interesting and totally work-ready.

Speaking of bows, this tie shoulder dress is on my list for spring. Love the small cutouts at the waist and the ruffled hem!
