ATLANTIC-PACIFIC COLLECTION // SUITING

I announced last week that I am launching a limited edition collection with Halogen, available exclusively at Nordstrom on 10/22! Starting today, in order to highlight my favorite themes, pieces, and trends in the collection, I will be posting ten styling guides across this week and next. I am kicking it off today with suiting! We created three incredible suits, available in a navy, a lilac, and a plaid. Below, I am showcasing a few of my favorite ways to style these pieces, so they can be worn over and over again!

If you missed the announcement you can read about it here and read a more in depth Q&A here!

I love incorporating matchy-matchy outfits in my looks, so naturally suiting was a big component from the outset. I liked the idea of creating a boyfriend blazer with a high waisted, wide leg pant hook up for a borrowed-from-the-boys look. Something that looked polished, but was also incredibly comfortable and amazingly soft. Once we landed on a great stretch fabric with and an incredibly soft hand-feel with the fabric R&D team, and a perfect fit with the design team, we discussed color options. I loved the idea of a menswear plaid, easy navy option, and a more fashion forward hue, such as lilac (the unofficial new millennial pink).

While I love wearing the pieces together as a true set, I also wanted to show a few ways to break the set apart in order to create a totally differentiated looks and highlight how versatile these pieces can be.

Plaid Blazer: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Belt: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Tights: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Gloves: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Dress: Tibi, long sleeve is sold out, but sleeveless version is here. Coat: Asos. Bag: Gu_de. Sunglasses: Saint Laurent.

This great plaid is black and white, but cut with pops of tan and orange. I love bringing out the accent colors within the plaid by pairing the blazer back to pieces that pop. While most people would think to pair this plaid blazer back to denim, I prefer it back to a feminine skirt or dress for the ultimate juxtaposition.

If you are more of the denim gal, the oversized fit looks awesome back to skinny jeans and a simple, streamline pump. The long length of the blazer covers your backside,  also making it easy to pair with leggings (Spanx are my legging of choice!) and riding boots. Note the sleeve also have a great functioning placket, making it easy to unbutton and roll up the sleeves!

TA-DA, here you are seeing the full suiting look! The pants are an easy fit, being higher waisted, but generous in volume throughout, making them anything but unflattering. They have a wide cuff and hit at mid calf – a great length to pair with boots, flat form oxfords, or a classic pump (for reference, I am 5’7″ tall).

We added lots of colored hosiery options into to the collection! Colored tights and socks are such an easy and affordable way to add unexpected color to your look. While it’s a bit more overt to wear colored tights with a shorter skirt, if you are a little less daring, the outfit above shows the perfect way to incorporate just a peek of color.

So, if you having been following here, you will undoubtably know that I. AM. ALL. ABOUT. LILAC. I added quite a bit of lilac to my spring/summer wardrobe this year, but am equally loving adding this pastel hue to my fall/winter attire. Right now I am wearing lots of lilac hues back to rusts, emerald greens, tans, and reds. The more I wear the color, the more versatile it becomes. I paired the blazer with these smythe pants for a little-mermaid-approved fall look.

Blazer: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Pants: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Polka Dot top: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Cable Sweater: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Teddy Coat: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen. Lilac Sunnies: Illesteva. Lilac Heels: Tibi, sold out- still in stock in white here or shop all Tibi shoes here. Tan Heels: old, similar here under $100. Lilac Bag: The Volon. Tan Bag: Mark Cross via Real Real. Lilac Gloves: Atlantic-Pacific X Halogen.

My imagination for lilac combinations seemingly has no end. The polka dot PJ top pictured above is one of my favorite woven options from the collection – and in a rich rust hue it pairs perfectly with the full lilac suit. To complete the look, I’ve added the ultra comfy teddy coat and a more preppy lilac cable sweater. I am going to be taking a closer look at the prints in the collection later this week so stay tuned for more dark floral, polka dot, and print inspiration for fall.

Last but not least, navy. I have to say I don’t wear a ton of black, so navy steps in and acts as my fall neutral. This suit set is a great option for those looking for a less fashion forward color, or for those looking to have their accessories do the talking. Here I am wearing the navy blazer back to a pair of black polka dot pants (in my book navy and black are always a good combo) and the chicest navy flat forms from the collection. In addition to wide leg pants, I have also been wearing this navy blazer back to my favorite boyfriend denim and also with shorter skirts and OTK boots!
